Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that the  XII Annual International College of Psychoneuropharmcology (ICGP) meeting will be held in collaboration with the Sociedad Española de Psicogeriatría (SEPG). The meeting will be held in the culturally rich and vibrant academic community of  Sevilla (Spain) from October 24th to 27th, 2012.

The ICGP was founded in 2000 with the mission to further clinical care, research and education in geriatric psychoneuropharmacology by fostering cross-fertilization of scientific knowledge among clinical and preclinical scientists from different related disciplines. The number of elderly people with neuropsychiatric disorders is increasing rapidly all over the world — in developing as well as developed countries. In the U.S., the number of psychiatrically ill older persons is estimated to quadruple by the year 2030. More effective treatment strategies will be needed to lessen the disability and public health burden generated by neuropsychiatric disorders.

The mission of the ICGP is to further clinical care, research, and education in geriatric psychoneuropharmacology. The theme of the XII Annual ICGP Meeting will be “The Future of Geriatric Psychoneuropharmacology”, with a focus on novel therapeutic interventions, molecular targets and cutting edge methodologies.

Our past meetings have alternated between North American (Kona, San Juan, Pittsburgh, San Diego, Baltimore, Irvine) and locations outside of North America (Barcelona, Basel, Hiroshima, Sydney, Athens). Both junior and senior colleagues have commented consistently on the high quality of the scientific presentations and the unique, collegial and intellectually stimulating environment that has fostered the exchange of ideas and collaborations internationally.

In additon to co-sponsoring the meeting with the SEPG, other international organizations will also participate in the meeting including the Asoçiaçao Portuguesa de GerontoPsiquiatria (APG) , the Hellenic Psychogeriatric Society, the Korean College of Psychoneuropharmacology (KCPG), the European Association of Geriatric Psychiatry (EAGP) and the International Psychogeriatrics Association (IPA).

We invite you to participate actively in the scientific program by submitting panel sessions and posters. The instructions are available on the ICGP website (www.icgp.org) and  on this website. The deadlines are April 1st , 2012 for panel sessions and  July 1st , 2012 for posters. We also invite nominations for our Junior Investigator Travel Award Program (deadline: April 1st , 2012).
Sapnish particpants will also have the opportunity of sending Posters to the SEPG Poster Session (instructions avalaible on this website)

The next two and a half days of the meeting will be include scientific sessions as well as plenary lectures from the leading international preclinical and clinical scientists and poster presentations.
